Replace Your Damaged Roof

Whether your roof was damaged by inclement weather that hit your area of the country or whether the roof is simply old and worn, it's time for roof replacement. If that's true, read on for some ideas that might be helpful. Here are three types of roofs you can consider for your roof replacement.

A Shingle Roof

If you have a shingle roof on your house already, selecting a new shingle roof will probably be the most affordable choice. Add new interest to your house by simply changing the color of shingles.

Even though a shingle roof might not be the sturdiest choice, shingles are easily replaced or repaired. Select a color of shingles that will complement the facade of your house. For instance, if your house is constructed of light grey brick, dark grey shingles would be one good choice. Brown shingles complement any facade color. However, the shade of brown can make a difference. For instance, if your house is light brown, you may want to choose dark brown for the shingles so there will be a contrast.

A Metal Roof

While metal will be a more expensive choice than a shingle roof, metal also performs better in harsh weather conditions. It will also last for a longer time than a shingle roof will. Gray metal is a traditional choice that will go well with any facade of your house.

However, metal roofs come in many colors, so you might want a different color. For instance, something like a a green metal roof will add a unique look to your house.

A Tile Roof

Selecting tile for your roofing material will probably be your most expensive choice. However, tile roofs last for an extremely long time, mostly because they are almost impervious to inclement weather and to the harsh rays of the sun. In addition, when tiles need to be replaced, that is a relatively easy procedure that won't take a long time.

Like shingle roofs and metal roofs, tile roofing comes in a variety of colors. If you have a stucco house or an adobe house, terra cotta red will be a traditional choice. If you have a brick house, match the tile roof to the color of the brick. For instance, a house that is painted off-white will go with any color of brick that you select. Add drama to the house by choosing something like turquoise for the color of the tiles.
