Signs You Might Need New Siding On Your House

You should familiarize yourself with the signs that let you know that something around your home needs repairing or replacement. Some things you want to pay attention to closely include the roof, the windows, and the siding. With regards to your home's siding, here are some of the signs that you should replace it:

Your siding is loose

It can be explainable to lose a couple of boards after a storm that brought through high winds. However, if your siding is loose for no reason or if more than a very small area is loose after a storm, then you likely have more issues going on with it and will need to have it replaced.

Vinyl siding is fading

One of the benefits of going with vinyl siding is that it can go so long without showing issues like scratches and other visible damage. This is because the color you see on the outside is the same color that goes all the way through to the other side. So, while other types of siding may need to be painted, vinyl will still be going strong. However, everything has its limit, and eventually, you may find that your vinyl siding is extremely faded. This is a sign you should begin thinking of replacing it.

Your siding doesn't hold paint well

When you paint your home, you should get about a decade out of that paint job. However, if you have come to a point where you find your home can use another paint job in half that time, then it is a sign you should be replacing the siding. Peeling paint, cracking paint, and chipping paint are some of the things that can happen when your home needs new siding.

Your siding is warped or rotted

Sometimes, it's quite obvious you need new siding. If you have let things get to the point where the siding is visually warped, then you want to start working on replacing the siding as soon as possible. Also, rotted siding needs immediate replacement. You can tell if the siding is rotted by gently tapping it with a tool that has a rubber handle. If you find areas that sound hollow, then this indicates rotting and this requires quick replacement to avoid more damage to other areas of the home.
